There are also surveyors who specialize in specific types of vessels, such as tankers, cruise ships, or cargo ships, as well as surveyors who focus on ship safety and security aspects, including ISM (International Safety Management) and ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security).
Provide advice and consultation on ship technical and operational issues, and may be involved in various aspects ranging from ship design to maintenance and repair.
Public surveyors work for government agencies such as the Ministry of Transportation, while private surveyors work for independent companies or organizations.
Involved in the rescue of ships that have been involved in accidents or damage, responsible for assessing damage, planning and implementing evacuations, and carrying out temporary repairs
Responsible for ensuring that ships are built and maintained in accordance with the standards and regulations set by classification societies, and works for organizations such as BKI (Indonesian Classification Bureau), Lloyd’s Register, ABS, and similar bodies.
Focuses on inspecting the condition of a ship’s hull, structure, and equipment, and is divided into surveyors for commercial vessels and luxury yachts.
Responsible for inspecting and assessing the ship's cargo, including its condition, quantity, and compliance with standards.
